I live in Warwickshire, England. I moved here years ago and, somehow, have just stayed. I was born in Somerset in 1955 and would love to go back one day. I miss the sea.
I am married with two grown-up daughters who have now left home. I delight in finding inspiration for my pieces in odd places; while walking, talking, travelling around, visiting new places, going to art galleries, books - in fact just about everything can spark an idea.
My Wallhangings
Each piece of work has been
created for the wall or to hang in a space and be viewed much as a
picture in a gallery. They are generally colourful, tactile, with detailed texture given by stitch.
Although threads and stitch
remain important, they are there to enhance the larger themes of
colour, line, shape, texture and form; proportion, contrast, harmony,
and rhythm. These effects are often achieved through paints (acrylic) oil pastel, pen and ink, pencil, which of course, renders all the pieces unsuitable for washing!
They are fixed to the wall with a baton which can
either rest on nails or using a mirror bracket, can be screwed to the
wall. They can also be framed under glass if you wish, but this adds
considerably to their price. If you would like a piece and wish to frame it, please get in touch as the finishing procedures will vary slightly.
